If you sell on eBay, then you need to know what other sellers are pricing their items at in order to be competitive. But simply looking at the prices that others are offering is of little use, as you will likely then price your items about the same or maybe higher? What you need to know is what the items actually sell for and not what others are offering them for?

This can be very useful as you can find almost anything on eBay, but the prices shown by sellers are often far away from the real market price, so what you need to look at are the sold prices and not those often inflated prices suggested by so many sellers.

So simply go to ‘Advanced’ search (its next to the search button) and then add whatever it is you are looking for “Status Quo Piledriver vinyl” or “Batman comic number 1” and then click SOLD items, and hey presto eBay will then show you all the items that have sold with those words in the title over the last three months or so. Always try a few different combinations of words as this will show you different results. You may or may not be shocked at what you find, as it will likely include the exact item you want at far below the price it is currently being offered by others for. In these cases its likely that the item was listed badly, in the wrong category or similar or with a lower than expected buy it now price, and often sold within hours of being listed.

By doing the research on sold items you will find the best price for you items, and its much better to list an item at near to the right selling price, and being able to find a buyer, than pitching it much higher and then having to wait 12 months even for an offer!
