Autograph World was founded in 1996 by JD Bardwell and Bob Jones, two highly respected figures in the autograph collecting community. Prior to establishing Autograph World, they owned and operated JD & Bob's Autographs between 1986 and 1990, building a reputation for integrity, expertise, and authentic material.

Autograph World is a longstanding member of the Universal Autograph Collectors Club (UACC) and holds UACC Registered Dealer No. 002, reflecting its commitment to the highest standards of authenticity and ethical dealing.

JD Bardwell served on the UACC Executive Board for more than a decade and has been recognised for his outstanding contributions to the hobby. He received the President's Quality Award in both 1997 and 1999, followed by the Distinguished Service Award in 2000. He also conceived the UACC Registered Dealer programme, which remains one of the most respected dealer accreditation systems in the autograph industry, and has served as webmaster for the UACC.

Bob Jones has been a full-time autograph dealer for more than three decades. Throughout his career, he has developed longstanding relationships with many of the most respected in-person autograph collectors in Hollywood and New York, providing access to exceptional signed material. Drawing on his Master's degree in Computer Science, Bob also designed and developed the original Autograph World website.

In 2004, JD Bardwell and Bob Jones expanded their business by launching Signature Pieces, a premium auction platform dedicated to offering high-end authenticated autographs and memorabilia to collectors worldwide
