Code of Conduct
The CollectorApproved Code of Conduct for dealers on this platform adheres strictly to the fundamental principles established by the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA). These principles dictate that all advertising must be Legal, Decent, Honest, and True.
So what does this signify for you as a collector?
Legal. Every dealer must consistently comply with all legal obligations; specifically, they must have legitimate ownership of the collectibles or services they're offering and ensure their website and promotional materials meet all legal requirements. For example, it's mandatory for any website selling goods or services to maintain an easily accessible contact page with accurate address and telephone details. This requirement exists to ensure that collectors can readily contact sellers should any issues arise.
Before listing any dealer, we thoroughly verify all details to confirm their accuracy, and we exclusively list only dealers who maintain proper contact information on their websites. Some dealers may be an online based business only so do not accept callers, so they may use a PO Box number for their address, but we always have their full address and contact details here with us should they ever be needed.
Decent. This principle primarily addresses moral conduct, which rarely presents issues in the autograph or film poster, autograph or comic collecting community. Nevertheless, dealers must maintain appropriate standards when interacting with collectors, making this principle essential to include.
Honest. Each dealer featured on our platform must maintain absolute honesty in their dealings with collectors, and their websites and promotional materials must be truthful rather than misleading. This extends to seemingly minor details that significantly impact collecting, such as accurately describing whether a film poster is an original or a reproduction, ensuring collectors receive exactly what they're promised.
True. While similar to Honesty, but this principle specifically addresses claims such as "We're the world's premier dealers in collectibles." Such bold statements require substantial evidence to support them. For instance, whilst Harrods can substantiate its claim as Britain's largest department store, a statement like "Smith's Memorabilia Shop is the country's biggest dealer" would require comprehensive market research to verify. However, Smith's could reasonably claim to be the largest dealer in their local area if they can prove this assertion.
This outlines our fundamental Code of Conduct. However, we maintain additional expectations: every dealer must operate within legal parameters and handle all collector interactions promptly and courteously.
Furthermore, should you encounter any dealer engaging in misrepresentation or failing to address your concerns appropriately do please contact us. To initiate this process, we require a formal written letter (letter only, not email please) detailing your grievance. Upon receipt, we shall endeavour to resolve the matter with utmost discretion and to your satisfaction.
